Decent software, slow download

I purchased Maya for a new project. The software itself is robust and works as advertised, which is the main thing. I opted for the annual plan and got a small discount, which was nice. However, the download speed for the installer was surprisingly slow, taking longer than I expected for such a large file. Customer service was polite when I called about it, but couldn't really speed up my connection. Still, the program is good, and it's what I needed.

Good value for AutoCAD LT

I was looking for a decent CAD solution without breaking the bank. The annual subscription for AutoCAD LT saved me a good chunk compared to monthly. It felt like a solid investment for my small business needs. Glad I went for the yearly option, it made sense financially.

Smooth experience, helpful support

I ordered Fusion 360 last week. The ordering process was straightforward on their website. Download was quick. I had a small question about licensing for a second device, and their online chat support was very responsive and helpful, clarifying everything within minutes. The software itself runs well on my machine, exactly as expected. Documentation for getting started was clear too, which is always a plus. It's been a pretty good experience overall, from purchase to actual use.

Consistent service as always

This was my third time renewing my Inventor subscription. Just like before, the renewal process was simple, and my access continued without any interruption. I always appreciate how reliable their service is. I've been using their software for years, and they always deliver. It's why I keep coming back for my professional needs.

Just started architecture school and need Revit. Anyone know how to get the student version? Is it actually free or just a big discount?

C Carly 2 months ago
It's free! You just need to go through their education portal and verify your student status. Super easy, I did it for Maya last semester.

Yeah, it's genuinely free for students. You'll need to use your school email or something to prove you're enrolled. They give you full access for a few years, I think.

Does Autodesk software run well on Macs, especially something like Maya or 3ds Max? Or is it mostly optimized for Windows?

B Beth Q. 2 months ago
Maya runs fine on my MacBook Pro, but you gotta make sure your specs are good, especially for rendering. 3ds Max is Windows only, afaik.

Most of their big programs are Windows-first, but some, like Maya and Fusion 360, have Mac versions. Always check the specific software's system requirements though, they can vary a lot.

Hey, I'm thinking about getting Fusion 360 for a personal project. Are there usually good sales around Black Friday or Cyber Monday for that kind of thing?

P Phil 2 months ago
Yeah, they totally do Black Friday sales. I snagged an Inventor subscription for a decent discount last year around then. Keep an eye out in Nov.

C Cleo Kim 2 months ago
They often have some kind of deal in Nov/Dec, not always a huge flash sale but sometimes 10-20% off for annual plans. Worth waiting if you can.

thinking of buying an annual subscription for civil 3D, is there a specific place to put in a promo code? or do they just apply discounts automatically?

J James 2 months ago
They almost never have actual promo codes you type in. Discounts usually just show up on the annual pricing or when they have a sale.

Nope, don't waste time looking for a coupon box. Usually, if there's a deal, it's just reflected in the price on the website, especially for annual plans.

I'm looking at AutoCAD LT but also saw regular AutoCAD. What's the main difference between them? Is LT good enough for small residential design?

M Mark 2 months ago
LT is definitely good for 2D drafting, which is probably fine for residential. The full AutoCAD has 3D modeling and more advanced stuff that you might not even need.

LT is basically 2D. Full AutoCAD adds all the 3D tools and customization. For residential, if you're not doing complex 3D renders, LT is probably fine and way cheaper.
